“Breaking this Cycle” Awe so tiny fingers curled around Grace’s pinky. She watched the newborn peer through brand new eyes at what must be such a strange world after life in the womb. Her legs kick in a tiny jagged motion, looking for that resistance they are used to. “I must give it to you girl, she’s adorable.” Pauline smiled. Pauline was Grace’s sister. “What do you plan on naming her?” Alize asked. “I like the name Hortense.” Grace stated. “Hortense!” Everyone shouted in unison. “What kind of name is that! This chocolate baby too pretty for a name like that!” Pauline stated matter of factly. “Coming from a woman who named her child after a bottle of liquor.” Grace giggled. “No offense Alize.” She continued to chuckle. “Well I tell you what, before I head back up to Valdosta, Georgia; you’re going to name this baby.” Pauline stated firmly. “Fine! What does she look like?” Grace held the tiny baby up. “A Nova.” Ali grinned. “I don’t think so.” Grace shook her head. “Cocoa.” Pauline said admiring the infant’s rich, dark skin and gorgeous brown eyes “I agree.” Grace smiled proudly kissing her baby girl on the cheek. “Little Miss Cocoa.” She whispered.
